Aggression Policy
MCPR does not accept pugs who have bitten.
                                             They are liability.

Definition of Biting: Punctures of the skin that have drawn blood with
         intention of having done so.

      1. MCPR believes that aggressive pugs are best served by being
rehabilitated (if possible) in their original homes.
      2.  MCPR CAN work closely with families who have pugs that have bitten.
      3. MCPR will assist as much as it can to keep the pug in its original
      home.

      Our Protocol is as follows:

         A.  The family will be required to fill out a 17-page behavior profile.
They will then be given a training plan with suggestions regarding
medical conditions relevant to the dog's behavior, nutritional
recommendations, training tools, and a behavior modification plan.

         B.  The family must sign an Aggression Disclaimer and agree to follow
the behavioral counselor's recommendations.  MCPR does
not support the use of force, physical punishment, the
application of fear of pain.  However, with all aggressive dogs
boundaries and a structured environment are critical.  If the family
cannot provide the pug with the boundaries and structured
environment necessary to enact the behavior modification plan
(including active pursuit of medical attention and nutritional
intervention), then MCPR and the behavioral counselor will not be
able to continue working with the family or the pug.

         C.  The family will have a 90 minute consultation with Peg Harrington
our certified behaviorist which included one 60 minute follow-up,
and a total of one hour worth of phone consultations. The cost of
this is a goodwill donation to MCPR, the value of this package is
              $255.

Note: Peg Harrington donates her time to this rescue.  Please only email us
about this program if you are serious about your pug and want to keep
them.   Any aggressive pug will do best to stay in their home environment.

Children inside the home are an exception to this rule.  Please let us know
if children are involved (ages 0-6) right away.

Note:  If you don't know if you pug is an aggressive biter, please give us
an email or a call at 615-335-1740 and we will be able to discuss this with
      you.
